Built during the last two years of World War 2, Werk Nr 290126 was assigned to NJG3 as D5+BL. Captured at Gove, Denmark in May 1945,[2] and designated Air Min 20,[3] the aircraft was one of four Heinkel He 219A-2s ferried from Schleswig to Farnborough that month.[2] Flown by Squadron Leader Joe McCarthy RCAF on 1 August,[4] the aircraft was transferred on 21 August, by Eric M. Brown, from Farnborough to Brize Norton,[5] where it was eventually scrapped in 1948.[6]
