Originally operated by JG26 as << +, Werk Nr 12764 was captured on 10 July 1941, when pilot Rolf Pingel was forced to crash land near St Margaret’s Bay, Dover, after being hit by fire from a British Short Stirling bomber that he was pursuing,[1] before being shot down by Supermarine Spitfires. The aircraft was repaired and test flown at Farnborough,[2] later receiving serial ES906.

On the 20th of October, 1941, while operating as part of the Air Fighting Development Unit, the aircraft crashed near Fowlmere and was destroyed. The pilot, Flying-Officer Marian J. Skalski of the Polish Air Force, died in the accident.[3]
