Storrar's Yak was initially a Yak-9D (or T) model captured by the Bulgarians and pressed into service as White 39. It was subsequently captured by the RAF somewhere in Italy in 1944, making it a rare case of a captured captured aircraft. It was flown by James E. Storrar as his personal hack, with RAF markings applied and his nickname "JAS" applied on the side. It was destroyed when its fuel line ruptured and was cermonially burnt.
