L2987 was a Blackburn Skua
History
Assigned to 800 squadron, operating from HMS Ark Royal, L2987 ran out of fuel escorting Hurricanes to Malta on 17 November 1940. Shot down by ack ack, the aircraft crash landed on the beach at Punta Palo, Siracusa, Sicily.
The aircraft was known to be with Stabilimento Costruzioni Aeronautiche (Aircraft Construction Establishment), Guidonia on June 1942.[1]
It's subsequent fate is unknown.
