Operating from HMS Ark Royal, L2987 ran out of fuel escorting Hurricanes to Malta. Shot down by ack ack, the aircraft crash landed on a beach.

The aircraft was known to be at Guidonia on June 1942.[2]

It's subsequent fate is unknown.
