History
One of 36 acquired by direct order for British Purchasing Commission, under Grumman Job No 127,[1] AM975 was allocated to 881 squadron aboard HMS Illustrious. On 21 December 1941, the aircraft forced landed half mile south of Carrigans, Co Donegal, Eire, during a ferry flight, resulting in the pilot, S/Lt Bruce Nathanial Girdlestone RNZN,[2] being interned.[3]
The final fate of the aircraft is not recorded.
