43-5925 in Finnish service

43-5925 was a Curtiss P-40M-10-CU Warhawk

History

Built as c/n 26713, the aircraft was to have gone to the RAF as FS192, but was diverted to USSR. Captured by the Finnish AF after a forced landing on frozen Lake Valkjarvi, Finland on 27 December 1943,[1] while being piloted by Soviet pilot, Sub. Lt. V.A. Ruevin from 191st fighter squadron, it was overhauled at the Mechanics’ School and delivered to HLeLv32 on 2 July 1944, who used it until 12 February 1945. (It was not used in combat flights however, due to lack of manuals and parts).[2] Operated as KH-51, the aircraft was Struck Off Charge on 2 January 1950.[1]
