Built at Tulsa by Douglas as c/n 371, 41-28779 was assigned to 389th BG, 564th BS.[2] Flown by Lt Thomas F.Purcell on 20 June 1944, the aircraft was forced down by Anti-Aircraft fire in the Pölitz area, resulting in the death of the co-pilot, 1Lt Milton L. Rosas, and captured by the Luftwaffe. [N 1] Flown by KG200 as KO+XA, the aircraft subsequently lost its nose gear on takeoff, and was burned by the Germans on 13 April 1945.[2]
